Monique was born in New Mexico, moving to the Valley of the Sun at the delicate age of 14. Half Xicana and half Dine is a proud and spiritual combination that provided a foundation of experiences to create upon. Inspiration from her heritage is evident in her work, whether she is crafting functional art or painting on canvas.
In 2008, Monique, sustained injuries due to a car accident and as a result spent many months in a wheelchair. It was during this time that she closely identified with artist, Frida Kahlo’s plight. Coincidently, soon after, MoChaCha was asked to join The Phoenix Frida Art Collective.
MoChaCha returns to her Land of Enchantment frequently to participate in art shows or to visit family. She resides in Downtown Phoenix, where she co-owns Creation Station Gallery in the Grand Avenue Arts District. She is an active member in the Phoenix art scene.Follow us!
